Metro Tasmania is seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support the maintenance of our Burnie-based fleet. This part-time role offers 22.8 - 30.4 hours per week, with flexibility to work across 3, 4, or 5 days to suit your lifestyle.

Based at our Burnie workshop, you will be responsible for maintaining a small fleet of buses to ensure they remain safe, compliant, and operational.
Key responsibilities include:

Undertaking preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.

Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults.

Performing breakdown repairs as required.

Completing inspections and maintenance documentation.

Ensuring vehicles meet safety and compliance requirements.

Working independently while contributing to fleet reliability.
This role offers autonomy, flexibility, and the opportunity to apply your expertise in a practical, well-supported environment.
You will bring:

Trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology.

Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing diesel or heavy vehicles.

Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
