About the Opportunity
Are you a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic looking for a rewarding role that offers flexibility and variety? At Metro, we're not just offering a job – we're offering an opportunity to build a role that works for you.
We're seeking a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our maintenance team on a part-time basis. Based in our well-equipped workshop, you'll play an important role in keeping our fleet operating at peak performance through high-quality servicing, diagnostics and repairs.
But there's more! If you're interested in increasing your hours, Metro are offering opportunity to pick up additional work for up to two days per week in either Operations Coordination or Bus Driving, either on a permanent part time or casual basis. This provides the flexibility to combine your mechanical skills with other areas of our business and potentially work up to full-time hours.
Whether you're looking for part-time mechanical work or the opportunity to broaden your experience, we'd love to hear from you.
About You
You're a skilled and reliable Heavy Vehicle Mechanic who takes pride in doing the job right the first time. You thrive in a busy workshop environment, work well both independently and as part of a team, and are always focused on safety and quality.
You're not just good with tools – you're a problem solver who understands the importance of keeping buses moving. You take initiative, stay organised and communicate clearly with others around you.
You'll also bring:
- A trade qualification in Diesel Mechanics or Heavy Vehicle Mechanical Technology (Cert III or equivalent).
- Proven experience servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles or diesel equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to doing high-quality work.
- A strong focus on workplace safety and compliance.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Current driver's licence (HR licence desirable but not essential).
- Forklift Licence or ability to obtain.
